Why don't we measure all lengths in just one standard unit of length such as metre, instead of having multiples and submultiples?​

Answer:

Because when we measure small distances or objects(less than 1 metre) the smaller units makes it easier to understand it's length. And when we measure large distances larger units makes it easier to understand it's length.
