Why don't we use nuclear fusion reaction in nuclear reactor for generating electricity instead of nuclear fission reaction?

fusion reaction is caused by combining hydrogen atoms which need more energy to start the reaction . hence they are called thermal fusion . whereas in nuclear fission you dont give that much energy because it is already unstable.
