Pole star is the star which does not appear to move in the sky.

In Hindi, Pole star is called as Dhruva tara.

  • Pole star remains fixed at some place in the sky in the north direction .
  • The pole star appears to be stationary and does not change  its position with time because it lies on the axis of rotation of Earth [ which is fixed in space and does not change with time]
  • All other stars appears to revolve around pole star
  • Pole star will not be visible from southern hemisphere of the earth.
