cause if we had started to make notes for 1 and 2 rupees, we would had run out of trees and paper.

1 and 2 are the smallest demarcations, which means they will take a huge supply of paper to print in order to maintain an amount capable of being used by the public

abhishekvashispdhjwk: if we are taking consideration for trees, there are more other things which are using trees as paper other than notes. we should control them first.
PranuAryan: true but one thing that is used the most by people is currency or money
PranuAryan: think about the amount of paper and ink and working it would take to print all the 1/- and 2/- notes
abhishekvashispdhjwk: we use A4 paper more than anything in the daily use, on an average we use 10 papers to waste
abhishekvashispdhjwk: overall cost of printing notes is lesser than making papers.
PranuAryan: the paper used in minting currency is different
abhishekvashispdhjwk: coins are minted and notes are printed Sir.
PranuAryan: the standard of minting money is far complex than anyother mints in order to leep the authencity of the money that ia being peinted
PranuAryan: printed
abhishekvashispdhjwk: All coins and one rupee currency notes in India are issued by Govt of India while currency notes of all higher denominations ( Rs 2, 5, 10,  20,  50,  100, 500 and 1000)  are issued by RBI.

While cost of printing a note is very small compared to a coin, coins have much longer life. As per a report in Hindu ( Dec 23, 2012), cost of minting a Rs 10 coin is Rs 6.10 against Rs 0.96  for printing a Rs 10 note.
