Why door can't be open till amelia say to open it drama the dear departed?

the door was not opened because Amelia and Henry was shifting the bureau as they mean to pinch it....she wanted to shift it before the arrival of her sister Elizabeth as it will become the subject of dividing... Amelia wanted to take possession of it by fraud....she ordered her daughter Victoria(Viki)not to open the door until she gives instruction....

Elizabeth and Ben Jordan was knocking the door but Amelia says Victoria not to open until they shift the bureau....
