Why door does not rotate if i apply force perpendicularly downwards on top of it?

the rotating force is called torque .

torque T = D×F×SinA

D is distance between hinge and force.

F is perpendicular force applied

A is angle between F and D

F SHOULD BE PERPENDICULAR TO THE D AS WELL AS AXIS OF HINGE...

AS SECOND CONDITION IS NOT SATISFIED THUS EFFECTIVE FORCE CAUSING TORQUE IS ZERO.
