the outermost layer of epidermis of skin-stratum corneum is made up of flattened dead cells made up of protein called keratin. When we keep our hands in water for long ,keratin absorbs it and swells but inner side does not swell so there is too much statum corneum which appears as bunching .This shrinking provides grip
