when dry apricots are left in water for sometime they swell due to endosmosis and when put in sugar solutoin they shrink because of exosmosis.

When dry Appricots are left in pure water for some time,they will swell.The water will enter into them through the process of osmosis.Later when these Appricots will be transferred into sugar solution,they will again shrink.
