 Dry raisins undergo a process called osmosis. ... Dry raisins swell up because they undergo Endosmosis. When the raisin is placed in a hypertonic solution i.e. water then the water penetrates through the semipermeable membrane i.e. the skin of the raisin and hence the raisin swells up.
