Curd or buttermilk are good examples of probiotics. Probiotics are the edible material which contains large amount of probiotic bacteria - *Lactobacilli*.

Lactobacilli bacteria have a special feature that it can clean the digestive tract.

Indigestion occurs mainly because of the presence of *E-Coli* bacteria in the intestine in very large amount.

E-Coli is an useful bacteria which presents in the intestine of the humans and it's main function is the secretion of various vitamins. But excess in its amount causes indigestion.

Lactobacilli bacteria which is probiotic in nature has the ability to destroy the E-Coli bacteria. By destroying the excess amount of E-Coli bacteria, we can overcome the problem of indigestion.

Therefore, doctors suggests to eat curd or buttermilk during indigestion.
