because they get into the soil and make it fertile

Earthworms are known as farmers' best friends because of the multitude of services they provide that improve soil health and consequently plant health.

They move through the soil and loosen and aerate it.
Earthworm's excreta increases the soil's fertility.
After these worms die, they add humus to the soil.
