why easy to break to piece of chalk but not an iron nail

A piece of chalk would be easier to break because in chalk the inter molecular forces of attraction are lesser than inter molecular forces in a iron nail so a piece of Chalk is easier to break.

In the case of iron nails,there is a very high intermolecular force of attraction....and in chalk,the intermolecular force is less as compared to the iron nails....

So,chalk breaks easily........
