Answer:

In electrostatics free charges in a good conductor reside only on the surface. So the free charge inside the conductor is zero. So the field in it is caused by charges on the surface. Since charges are of the same nature and distribution is UNIFORM, the electric fields cancel each other

Electric field is zero inside conductor because outside a conductor, the electric field lines are perpendicular to its surface, ending or beginning on charges on the surface.

Explanation:

Charged conductors that have achieved an electrostatic balance share a variety of unusual characteristics. One of the characteristics of an electrostatic balance conductor is that the electrical field below the surface of the charged conductor is zero. If an electrical field existed beneath the surface of the conductor (and inside the conductor), then the electrical field would exert force on all electrons that were present there. This net force would start to accelerate and move these electrons. But the objects at electrostatic equilibrium have no further motion of charge on the surface.
