THE ELECTRON AFFINITY OF CHLORINE IS GREATER THAN OF FLUORINE BECAUSE THE ELECTRON BEING GAINED BY FLUORINE WOULD BE TAKEN INTO A MUCH SMALLER 2P ORBITAL AND REQUIRES MORE COUPLING ENERGY THAN THAT OF MUCH LARGER 3P ORBITAL OF CHLORINE.
HOPE IT HELPS.
