Why electronic bonds form between alkali metals and halogens ?

it simple alkali metals tend to lose one electron easily and whereas the halogen tends to gain an electron easily. when one electron is released by alkali metal alkali metal become positively charged where as when halogen accept an electron it becomes negatively charged. positively charged alkali metal attracts negatively charged halogen and thus forms an electrovalent Bond
