Why electronic configuration of Zinc is 2,8,18,2 and calcium not 2,8,10 but instead 2,8,8,2

zinc has a electronic configuration of 2,8,18,2 but calcium don't have,2,8,10

Explanation:

as the number of electrons in the last shell of a electronic configuration can be 2or 8 .As calcium have a valency of 20 if we draw the electronic configuration than the last shell contain 10 so from this 2 gets transfer to the next shell
