Why elements like copper, aluminium and iron are called metals ?

Metals are pure chemical substances with a distinguishable, quantifiable atomic mass that is shiny, conductive (thermal and electrical) and hard.

Cu, Fe and Al agree to all these, they have a quantifiable mass, they are shiny, conductors, and hard.
