In a heavy truck, each wheel has to support large road and the pressure on the road due to each wheel is large.
Since, pressure = force/area
Using of extra wheels reduces the pressure on road due to each wheel. This prevents the wheel from causing damage to the road as well as sinking into soft ground.
This is why, extra wheels are used in heavy vehicles.

because larger area of wheels , less pressure will be there ...

heavy truck is fitted with 6 to 8 wheels ......so that pressure will decrease and road will not sink
