why Eu2+ is reducing agent?

Its because on oxidation release of the electrons takes place so after the removal of 2 electrons it got a half field stable electronic configuration of 4f7. Hence it acts as a strong reducing agent.

Eu²⁺ is a strong reducing agent because Eu²⁺ tends to change as +3 is the common oxidation state of lanthanoids.
