==> Evaporation is called a surface phenomenon because it relies on the exchange of energy from the air molecules and the surface molecules of the liquid. When air molecules collide with the surface molecules of the liquid, they can impart energy that the surface molecules can use to undergo the phase change.

Evaporation is also known as surface phenomenon because in this process exchange of energy from air molecules and surface molecules of liquid. When air molecules collide or hit with surface molecules they give impact on surface molecules in form of certain changes.
For example :-
In summer season ,when we flow some water in ceiling water gets evaporate and they give coldness to ceiling and make it Colder.
