the air inhaled is oxygen rich and is absorbed by the alveoli present in th lungs.the unwanted carbon dioxide is expelled out by the cell and is exhaled out through nose.

Because the air inhaled is used up by our body cells for respiration.. Therefore exhaled air contains less oxygen than inhaled air because it has more of carbon dioxide which is one of the by products of respiration.
