Why farm labourers considered very poor

The following are some of the reasons for poverty of farm labourers.

1. They work on the farm of big land owners and are paid only a meagre amount as daily wages.

2. Often they get work for only some months during the year and remain unemployed during the remaining months.

3. In rural areas often there is lack of alternative employment opportunities.

4. Low level of literacy restricts there employment in other areas of work.

5. Low income, poor health, illiteracy, large family size, etc. initiate a vicious circle of poverty.
