Let us consider the reaction between acid and metal

Acid + Metal → Salt + Hydrogen gas (H2)

in this case

Acid = Dilute HCl

Metal = Iron (Fe)

∴ HCl + Fe → FeCl2 + H2

Let us balance the equation,

2HCl + Fe → FeCl2 + H2

when dilute HCl is added to Fe then Ferrous chloride ( FeCl2) and hydrogen gas (H2) will be formed.
