why fe3+ is more stable than fe2+?

Well technically speaking the less number of electrons in Fe 3+ reduces the shielding effect increases the relative nuclear charge exerted by the nucleus on the electron. This pushes the electrons inwards and reduces the size of the atom which further results in decrease in energy and hence increases the stability of the ion.
