Why female gametes are few but male gametes produced in thousands?

Answer:

Because female gametes forms as well as stay till fertilization in females body.

Male gametes forms in male body, but for fertilization these gametes have to reach female gamete to ensure fertilization to form zygote.

To ensure Garented fertilization, male gametes having many difficulties during travel, produced in large number.
