Hello there ! The reason for having more hair in females apart from not trimming them down lies in hormonal mechanism, basically the length of hair is determined by rate of hairfall vs rate of growth that is why your eyebrows usually remains at a constant length as they are falling off as much as they are being grown.

In males the rate of hairfall is usually higher than that of females that is why baldness is common in male.

To be very specific, testosterone which is a male hormone gets converted into DHT which causes hairfall, however testosterone is also present in females but in a lot lesser amount.
