why fertilization in plants called double fertilization

it is bcoz pollination is also process in which some fertilisation takes place and then other fertilisation is of male and female gametes... so that's why this process is known as double fertilisation

because of the two sperm cells,one sperm fertilize the egg cell,forming a zygote and the other sperm fuse with the two polar nuclie forming a triploid cell that develop into the endosperm together in these two fertilization event in angiosperm are known as double fertilization
