The field coil is required to provide static magnetic field when constant DC is applied to the field coil. In case of DC GENERATOR ,
The shaft of the DC generator is made rotated by an external force.The DC generator is made rotated inside two field poles . The field poles are electro magnet in nature. The field poles are sometimes separately excited by constant DC voltage.
