The rate of respiration in fishes is slower than that of humans as they don't have advanced respiratory system like us.They breathe through gills and obtain oxygen dissolved in water. The dissolved amount of oxygen is very less in water whereas there is abundance of oxygen in the air. We obtain oxygen from the atmosphere(air) thus it is easier and we have a faster rate of respiration.
