Why float in rotameter not get exit from the upper section when we increase fluid velocity?

A rotameter measures the flow rate with a diverging tube so that the pressure drop due to friction before and after a device inside the tube (float) sustains its weight. When the device (float) moves upwards, the cross section of the pipe increases so the pressure drop decreases.
