Why focal length of convex lens is positive and concave is negative?

because the convex leave is showing to figer as big and concave lenses are showing small

The focal length of convex lens is positive because it converge the focal length right side and Focus is also on right side so it is positive

The focal length of concave lens is negative because focus is present in left side
