Why food cans are coated with tin and not with zinc??!

because the metal can react with food so for no reaction zinc and mostly alluminium are applied a layer on food items and beaverages...

Answer. because zinc has higher melting point than tin, zinc is more reactive than tin which may react with food items and make it unfit for health ....and also zinc is costlier than tin...
