why for testing dry hydrochloric acid moist Litmus Paper is used?or why for testing dry hydrochloric acid dry Litmus Paper is not used ?

while testing dry hcl gas moist litmus is used because acid does not show its acidic properties or produce hydeonium ions without water or in dry state.

coz hydrocloric acid will not produce hydronium ion in dry state or without water.. so it will not react with litmus paper..
To change the colour of the litmus paper either dil. hydrochloric acid should b used or moist litmus paper..
