Explanation:

When a tree is shaken, the tree moves to and fro while the fruits and leaves remain in their state of rest on account of their inertia and thus fruits and leaves separate from the tree and fall from the tree.

This is due to Inertia. The branches are at rest (at first) When the branch is shaken the branches of the tree gain motion but the fruits and leaves tends to be in rest due to inertia of rest and hence they fall down.
