Answer:

Abstract

Furans and their benzo-fused derivatives possess a diverse set of properties that allow a wide range of applications, spanning from medicinal chemistry to photo- and electrochemistry. Recent advances in the development of syntheses, reactions, and applications of furans and their benzo derivatives, reported in 2018, are presented in this review. Noteworthy methods for synthesis of furans, benzo[b]furans, benzo[c]furans and dibenzofurans, including transition metal-catalysed, cycloaddition/annulation, cascade-type and C-H functionalization processes are discussed in separate sections. Sections regarding to the reactivity of furans and benzofurans include, but are not limited to, catalytic furan ring-opening processes, an asymmetric dearomatization, electrophilic and radical substitutions, regioselective arylation and alkylation as well as metal-catalysed cross coupling reactions
