ln December 1920, the Congress adopted a new programme of struggle against the government, the goal of which was to undo the injustice done to Punjab and Turkey, and the attainment of swarajya. It was called the Non Cooperation Movement because it asked people to boycott British goods, and refuse to work or cooperate with the British.Large quantities of foreign goods were burnt at many places. The charkha (spinning wheel) and khadi became symbols of this programme.
