why gas have lower density as compared to solid give reason

because the intermolecular spaces are very large as compared to solids.So the intermolecular force is negligible. The molecules are less tightly packed.As density is indirectly the lightness or heaviness of an object and gases are loosely packed that means gases are lighter than solids.So solids have greater density than gases

Density = Mass / Volume

Also, we know that mass per unit volume of a gas is very low as compared to solids. So, we can conclude that gases have lower density than solids.
