Initially cathode ray tube has gas filled in it which has high pressure. We reduce the pressure of the gas by using a vacuum pump

But why at pow pressure ?? Friend

If volume and temperature are constant then pressure is directly proportional to no. Of gases molecules.
So if there were more no. Of atoms of gases in the way of electrons collision would occur and this would prevent the electrons to reach the anode.
Therefore low pressure was kept so less molecules and the electrons could easily go to the anode.
Hope that helps you :-)
