It is so because....
though gandhi wanted to free the country from the tyrannical British rule.. but he was a racist,who believed in the caste system and considered untouchables like Dr. Ambedkar unworthy for high authority....

the word Harijan means the children of God
Gandhiji means that the poor people are the children of God but this follows to a untouchability as the thinking of peoples are that if poor are children of God then what are the other people for that which can be said as an untouchability in country
