Why gluconeogenesis only happens in liver researchgate?

Gluconeogenesis also occurs in the kidneys but in appreciable amounts only in the liver . This is because the liver has evolved to be the seat of metabolism in our bodies . ... Also the blood lactate is dumped into the liver which is recycled to glucose for the body in the liver.
