Why glycerin is more viscous than water

Glycerol has three hydroxyl (OH) groups per molecule as compared to one in water due to which extent of hydrogen bonding is more in glycerol than water as a result of which glycerol is more viscous than water. Due to presence of hydrogen bonding in molecules of glycerol , it become more viscous than water.
