The north and the south poles are covered with ice. No vegetation grows there. Green vegetables and fruits are rich in minerals and vitamins. They protect us from many diseases. Lack of green vegetables and fruits in our diet, results in deficiency diseases.
To avoid deficiency of vitamins and minerals in diet, explorers going to the north or south poles must carry green vegetables and fruit juices with them.
