why gold is found in free state but iron not

Because it is very unreactive metal but iron react with many metals and gases

gold is a noble metal.. I.e. it is not reactive it does not react with things in the surrounding.. that's why it is found in free state.

whereas iron is a reactive metal... it can react with oxygen and water and get corroded. it may even react with other substances and can lost its true form

this is the reason why gold is found in free state but iron not....
