Pure gold is not used for making jwellery beacuase pure gold is so so soft that it is unable to hold it's shape for a very long time.

  • Pure gold which in karat ( analyse purity level of gold) is 24 Karat is not often seen in the market in the form of jewelry beacuse it is so soft and flexible that afer a few days it will start loosing it's shape
  • Gold Jewelry in the market are often made of 18 Karat gold or 22 Karat which is made with amalgation of silver and copper.
  • Pure gold is instead used in making gold coins, electronics, etc.

Answer:

Since ornaments in their making are required to be held tightly onto a diamond or allied precious stones, 24-karat gold is not used for making jewellery because of its softness. Thanks to the ductility and malleability of 24-karat gold, it can easily be deformed and lose its grip on a jewel.
