Why gram negative bacteria is resistant to penicillin?

Mycoplasma

Though it has evolved from gram positive bacteria but it loses its cell wall to become gram negative

Since pencillin act on cell wall, and mycoplasma has no cell wall therefore it is resistant to pencillin but sensitive to streptomycin.
