Graphite can conduct electricity because of the delocalised (free) electrons in its structure. These arise because each carbon atom is only bonded to 3 other carbon atoms. This leaves 1 electron to become delocalised....

Has electrons so it can conduct electricity while Diamond doesn't has just the question because graphite has because it has free spaces between its two atoms so it can conduct electricity very easy but Diamond has all the carbon atoms linked together so it can conduct electricity
