the structure of graphite is flat hexagonal rings so each carbon atom is joined with 3carbon atom and hence it has free moving electron due to which it conduct electricity.
but diamond has tetrahedral structure and do not have any free moving electrons hence do not conduct electricity.....

daksh63: a carbon atom has 4 electrons that are free but when it is in the form of graphite it's 3 atoms are connected and one is free

according to graphite's structure it has free electrons thus it conducts electricity whereas diamond doest not have free electrons thus it does not conduct electricity....

Bachanimoninka: yes
