Because the gravitational pull is from earth.so,it attracts towards itself so gravity is always downward.

Heyaa folk,
Gravity isn't in downward direction exactly,it is towards the earth. All objects pull each other. So basically earth is pulling objects towards it,so we percieve it to be in downward direction. Isaac Newton said that an apple falls because the gravitational pull of earth pulls it downwards.
We generally think about gravity as a whole force on the object. Because we determine it as entirely. In fact, gravity is not effecting the objects as all. It effects all particles of objects at the same time and the measured Gravity (G) force is a sum of all (gravity force) particles. It's actually not entirely true that the strength of the Earth's gravitational field decreases as a function of depth.
Hope it helps u :)
