Explanation:
Hi there, I have explained this answer from 2 perspectives, you can choose any one as you like. First one is from Food Chain perspective while second one is from simple Bio perspective i.e.. definition:-
Green Plants are called Producers, because of these reasons:-
1) They occur in the beginning of the Food Chain, which signifies that every level of organism is directly or indirectly dependent on them for source of nutrition.
2) Secondly, these Green Plants basically use raw materials from the atmosphere to produce food, which are consumed by the organisms.
To put this more clearly, we can say like that, Plants produce food, the food is consumed by the herbivores and herbivores are consumed by the carnivores and these carnivores and plants are consumed by omnivores. So basically they produce food [source of nutrition] for every level of organism in food chain either directly or indirectly
From simple bio perspective, they are called producers as, These are the organisms that are capable of preparing their own food from raw materials like carbon dioxide and water by using sunlight energy in the presence of chlorophyll. So they are called Producers because they have the capability to produce their own food.
- Green plants are known as producers because, in the presence of sunshine, they manufacture their own sustenance from water and carbon dioxide.
- Producers are creatures that can make their own sustenance out of basic inorganic components like carbon dioxide and water with the help of solar energy and chlorophyll.
- The producers are the green plants that manufacture their own sustenance through photosynthesis.
