Group 16 is oxygen family and it has oxygen, sulphur, selenium ,tellurium, polonium and these elements have outer electronic configuration as ns2 np4 . ... Since group 15 has symmetrical distribution of electrons due to half filled p orbitals therefore the atom of group 15 becomes more stable compared to group 16 elements.

  • ❤.. Due to extra stable half filled {p} orbitals electronic configuration of Group 15 elements, larger amount of energy is required to remove electrons compared to Group 16 elements.
